Manley Hot Springs
Known best for the privately owned hot springs pools, Interior Alaska’s Manley Hot Springs offers a surprise oasis near the end of Elliott Highway. The Manley Hot Springs community dates back to when John Karshner, a miner, claimed a number of the hot springs in 1902 as part of his more than 275-acre homestead and vegetable farm. Around the same time, the U.S. Army arrived in the area to establish a telegraph station and a trading post for miners was soon set up in the nearby Tofty and Eureka mining districts. Manley Hot Springs is still a small settlement today.
