Abita Mystery House
The Abita Mystery House in the charming town of Abita Springs, Louisiana is a unique roadside attraction home to thousands of different folk art items. These objects range from pottery to miniature, including one-of-a-kind Louisiana-themed sculpture, such as Edmond the Allisapien (half human-half alligator) and Darrel the Dogigator (half dog-half alligator).
The Abita Mystery House features a vintage gas station as its entrance with bright decor and filling pumps. Visitors then enter open air sections of perhaps the most provocative and intriguing museum in Louisiana, the House of Shards, a 90-year-old Creole cottage, and the main exhibit hall.

Tammany Trace
Tammany Trace offers visitors and locals alike with a chance to get closer to nature and explore the scenic Northshore. This local gem showcases the magic and personality of the area of Abita Springs. Tammany Trace is the only “rails-to-trails” conversion in the state of Louisiana, extending thirty-one miles and winding through the Northshore.
It connects five different communities and lovely green spaces. The Tammany Trace trail provides a way for people to explore the natural beauty and towns of the area by foot, by bicycle, or even rollerblading. Visitors should note that pets are not allowed on the path.
Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve
The Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve was established to protect a significant, large tract of southeast Louisiana pine flatwood wetlands. The nature preserve is home to bayhead swamps, slash pine-pond cypress woodlands, and longleaf pine flatwood savanna. In addition to discovering all of the plants in the Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve, rare wildlife may also be spotted, such as rare grassland birds like the Henslow’s sparrow and the Bachman’s sparrow.
Visitors can stroll along the informative boardwalk to view a wide variety of fascinating plants in portions of the preserve, such as the pitcher plants, a unique carnivorous plant.

Housed in a building originally built in 188, the Abita Springs Cafe is a charming little restaurant that serves a delicious variety of Southern cuisine. This authentic Creole local eatery offers a menu featuring generously sized breakfast dishes like french toast and omelettes, daily lunch specials, cajun chicken and waffles, and homemade biscuits with locally sourced honey.

Abita Brew Pub
The Abita Brew Pub is situated at the original location of the Abita Brewery and offers Abita brews, including some beers served exclusively at the brew pub. While the Abita Brew Pub is independently owned, it still maintains a close partnership with the Abita Brewery. This beer-focused pub also features a good food menu that includes sandwiches, salads, pastas, and burgers. Nestled beneath live oaks, the uniquely located Abita Brew Pub features both outdoor and indoor seating, a retail area selling a variety of merchandise, handcrafted window frames made from cypress, a slate and cypress bar.

Abita Springs Trailhead Museum
Owned by the town of Abita Springs, the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum is a quaint and quirky one-room museum, filled to the rafters with all kinds of memorabilia which recalls and showcases Abita Springs history and culture. The museum is operated by a team of enthusiastic volunteers, and there is no charge to visit.
The museum stages a series of changing exhibitions about the many facets of the regions’ history as well as regular art and craft exhibitions by local artists. If you choose to visit on a Sunday you can also enjoy the musicians who entertain at the local Farmer’s Market across the road.

Milicevic Family Vineyards
Milicevic Family Vineyards can trace their origins to 1950 in Hercegovina, where Ivan Milicevic was raised. After he relocated to America in 1989 he dreamt of owning his own vineyards and the Abita Springs vineyards were established in 2014. The vineyard is planted with specific cultivars which the family farmed in Hercegovina, namely Blatina and Zilavka vines, which were previously never grown in the US. The farm is a shining example of sustainable faming – cows provide the fertilizer for the vines and a flock of geese patrol the vineyards to fee off the bugs and snails. Milicevic Family Vineyards currently produce 5 fine and unusual wines which you are sure to enjoy.
