Located along the scenic Oak Creek, the Bubbling Ponds Fish Hatchery raises several warm-water fish species such as bluegill, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and native species such as razorback sucker and Colorado River pikeminnow.

You’ll be able to explore the hatchery and several wildlife-viewing areas on your day trip.

Visitors are also invited to walk the extensive trails which enter a huge cottonwood gallery as well as a mesquite bosque. The hatchery is one of the few places in the state that you’ll have a chance to see a river otter; other wildlife and bird species that is common in the area include mule deer, javelina, and yellow warblers.

Operating since the early 30’s, Page Springs Fish Hatchery is known as the country’s largest state-run hatchery. Every year, the 273-acre hatchery contributes about 750,000 fish for Arizona’s ponds, streams, and lakes. Located along Lower Oak Creek, the area is not only home marine wildlife, but is also identified as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society. As a result, the hatchery brings in thousands of visitors and wildlife-watching enthusiasts. As visitors walk through the nature trail that curves through the hatchery and creek, they’ll be able to spot a great number of animals such as river otter and great blue herons. Occasionally, visitors may even catch a glimpse of mules, foxes, mountain lions, and even black bears in the surrounding elevated landscapes.
