The Sawnee Mountain Preserve spans across over nine hundred acres in the Cumming area and features a visitor center, amphitheater, climbing area, two picnic pavilions, a playground, a tree canopy classroom, Indian Seats, and miles of trail for hiking. The visitor center, which houses Native American artifacts and information about the preserve, and hiking trails are open to visitors on a daily basis. Outdoor programs are offered as well.The unique natural rock formation known as the Indian Seats can be found at the summit of the trail system and offer gorgeous views of the mountains of North Georgia.

The Big Creek Greenway in the state of Georgia is a multi-use trail that travels along Big Creek. The first section of the greenway starts in Roswell, Georgia at Big Creek Park, running approximately eight miles to Alpharetta.

A second portion of the Big Creek Greenway trail is located in the Cumming area of Forsyth County and stretches around eleven miles. Access points to the greenway are the Halcyon Trailhead, the Union Hill Trailhead, the Fowler Park Trailhead, and the Bethelview Trailhead.
