The museum’s collection boasts over 20,000 specimens and features a variety of fossils, petrified wood, meteorites, fluorescent minerals, zeolites, and other minerals. The Oregon International Air Show is an annual three-day event held at the Hillsboro Airport in Hillsboro in September that draws over 65,000 people. The show is the largest civilian air show on the West Coast of the United States and features everything aeronautic from actual planes to equipment, engines, and more. The event showcases ultralight powered paragliders, engine monitoring equipment, avionics Plug-n-Play instrument panels, propellers, certified home-built aircraft supplies, and more, as well as a wealth of experts in the field of aviation who are on hand to share their expertise and knowledge. Displays at the air show include aerobatic demonstrations and static displays on the ground, featuring a range of aircraft.

The Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a 635-acre wildlife preserve situated within the city limits of Hillsboro that offers fantastic outdoor opportunities such as hiking, bird and wildlife watching. The preserve is home to over 150 species of birds, including herons and bald eagles, and it attracts a plethora of waterfowl in the fall and winter, such as northern pintail ducks, and cackling geese. The preserve is also home to several hiking trails that begin in the parking lot and wind through the wetlands, with a seasonal trailhead at the north viewing area. Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve has a Nature Center that offers educational programs and workshops for visitors of all ages.

Located in the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex, the Ron Tonkin Field, formerly known as the Hillsboro Ballpark, is a baseball park in Hillsboro that is home to the Hillsboro Hops of the Class A short season Northwest League. The 4,500-seat stadium hosts the only professional baseball team in the Portland metropolitan area and, when not used by the baseball team is used for other sports such as lacrosse and soccer. The Ron Tonkin Field has a 14-row deep covered grandstand, standing room, and a beer garden, the Bridgeport Brew Pen, which is located at the end of the first baseline.

Orenco Woods Nature Park is a recreational park in the Orenco neighborhood that spans 42 acres and is bordered by the tracks for the MAX Blue Line at the north and Cornelius Pass Road in the east. 53rd Ave Community Park is a 14-acre municipal park located along 53rd Avenue in the center of the city that offers a variety of recreational amenities and facilities. The park offers a diverse range of outdoor areas for play and recreational activities such as 178,000 square feet of artificial turf multi-sport fields, a basketball court, tennis courts, a plaza area with water play fountain, a children's play area, concessions, and restrooms. There are also two lighted lacrosse and soccer fields that can also accommodate a wide variety of other sports, and a spray ground with geysers, spray elements and a curved seating wall that is hugely popular in the summer.

The Hillsboro Public Library is a public library with two locations in Hillsboro in Shute Park and the Brookwood Library in the city center. Opened in 1975, the Shute Park Library is the oldest of the two libraries in the system and is based in a triangular-shaped building with 15,000 square feet of space that houses over 57,000 literary items, ranging from books and audio materials to periodicals and videos. The Brookwood Library is housed in a two-story building encompassing 76,000 square feet and boasts a collection of more than 300,000 items. Hondo Dog Park

Hondo Dog Park is a dog-friendly city park spanning four acres next to the Hillsboro Stadium in the northeast section of Hillsboro. Opened in 2007, the park was the first dog park in that city and is named after a famous canine member of the Hillsboro Police Department called Hondo, who was sadly killed in action in 1997. A fire hydrant painted like an American flag as a memorial to the police dog is situated in the park, which has three different sections for various size dogs. Other features and amenities in the park include a small hill, double-gated entrances, gravel pathways, park benches, and drinking water stations, many of which are painted with dog themes.
