Cypress Island
Located along Lake Martin between Breaux Bridge and Lafayette, Cypress Island is a preserve of about 9,500 acres of protected cypress swamp and hardwood forest land. The Visitor Center is located at the southern end of the lake where Rookery Road and LA Highway 353 meet.

Moncus Park
Recently opened in January of 2022, Moncus Park was born out of a movement to save the property formerly known as The Horse Farm – the equestrian center of the Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute. After much hard work and advocacy from many supporters, construction to turn the land into a world-class park started in 2018 with the second wave of construction of the other half of the 125-acre property commencing in 2021. Named after a hefty donation from philanthropist James Moncus, the park's operations are fully funded by donors and local organizations making it a community park in every sense of the word.
