Oxon Cove Park and Oxon Hill Farm

Oxon Cove Park and Oxon Hill Farm is a national historic district at Oxon Hill, Prince George's County, Maryland. The park includes Oxon Hill, a living farm museum managed by the National Park Service.

The park is great resource for wildlife observation, environmental studies, fishing, and other recreational activities on the Potomac River. The historic district has fourteen buildings and two structures that were developed as part of the property, first as a plantation, an agricultural complex and a farm museum.

The Oxon Hill Farm includes the Mount Welby home, barns, Farm Museum, a stable, livestock buildings, feed building, and a visitor activity barn. The farm is home to cows, horses and chickens. The Farm Museum displays historical farm equipment from the late 19th century.

Oxon Hill Manor

Oxon Hill Manor is located in Oxon Hill, Prince George's County, Maryland. The magnificent neo-Georgian house was designed in 1928 for Sumner Welles by the Washington architect, Jules Henri de Sibour. The 49-room house was built in 1929, and has a two-story main block made of Flemish bond brick and a northern wing. The property also has two outbuildings; a five-car garage, manager's quarters, greenhouse, a stable and formal gardens. Franklin D. Roosevelt and possibly even Sir Winston Churchill were allegedly staying in the manor. The property was later sold to Fred Maloof, a wealthy oilman and art collector. Maloof stablished a museum for fine art and John Hanson memorabilia in the house. Later the property came under the management of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
