Summer is the peak season in Colorado Springs. This means warm weather bur also many visitors, crowded attractions, and higher than normal room rates. Some people visit during the winter when there are no crowds and room rates are at their lowest; however visitors should be aware that some hotels close during this season. Spring, from March to May, and fall, from September to November, are the best times to visit Colorado Springs. The temperatures are cooler than in the summer but are still comfortable. There are less crowds and room rates are reasonable. One of the best parts about a fall visit is the spectacular show as the leaves change color.

January kicks off the year in Colorado Springs with a frigid winter. The average high temperature peaks at 43°F (6°C) while the average low temperature is a bone chilling 18°F (-8°C). Snowfall this month averages at 6 inches (15 cm) making it a great time to enjoy skiing and other winter sports. Additionally, January receives the lowest precipitation rate with close to 0 inches (8 mm) of rain.

In February, the average high temperature increases ever so slightly to 45°F (7°C) along with the average low temperature which rises to 20°F (-7°C). Snowfall decreases by an inch, averaging at 5 inches (13 cm).

Colorado Springs Weather in March: Interestingly, it is the first month of spring, March, which receives the largest amount of snowfall in the year. Snowfall averages at 8 inches (20 cm) while the temperatures continue to rise. The average high and average low temperatures range between 52°F (11°C) and 26°F (-3°C).

In April, the average high temperature increases further to 60°F (15°C) while the average low temperature climbs to 33°F (1°C). Snowfall decreases to 5 inches (13 cm).

May sees the least amount of snowfall in the year and the last snowfall of the season with a 1 inch (3 cm) average. The average high and love temperatures make another significant jump settling at 69°F (21°C) and 43°F (6°C) respectively.

Colorado Springs Weather in June: Temperatures continue on their upward trend with the average high temperature reaching 79°F (26°C). The average low temperature hits 51°F (11°C) for the first month of summer.

July is the hottest month of the year in Colorado Springs with the average high temperature breaching the 80s and peaking at 85°F (29°C). The average low temperature is a comfortable 57°F (14°C).

In August, Colorado Springs receives the most rainfall in the year with an average of 3 inches (85 mm). It is also the second to the hottest month of the year with an average high temperature of 82°F (27°C).

Colorado Springs Weather in September: The average temperatures begin to decrease with the arrival of fall. The average high temperature drops close to ten degrees to rest at 74°F (24°C). The low temperature average is 47°F (9°C).

In October, snow starts falling again. October receives an average snowfall of 3 inches (8 cm) along with an average high temperature and average low temperature of 63°F (17°C) or 36°F (2°C) respectively.

November sees snowfall increasing to 5 inches (13 cm). The average high temperature drops over ten degrees to 51°F (11°C). The low temperature average also decreases significantly to 25°F (-4°C).

In December, Colorado Springs receives an average of 6 inches (15 cm) of snowfall. It is also the coldest month of the year with an average high temperature of 42°F (6°C). Low temperatures are increasingly frigid measuring at 17°F (-8°C).

Generally, the best time to come to Colorado for a vacation is between the months of March to May and September to October. During these months, the weather is comfortably cool. There are also much fewer crowds and great bargain deals. One of the biggest draws of Colorado are the gorgeous fall colors. To see the best of Colorado’s fall foliage, visit sometime between mid-October to mid-November.
