Cure Organic Farm is small family-run farm just outside of Boulder that grows a variety of organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers and distributes them to local restaurants, markets, and farm stores. Set on 12 acres six miles outside of Boulder, the farm is home to a range of livestock, including heritage Berkshire and Mangalitsa pigs, a flock of hens and ducks, and several honey bee hives, as well as a wide variety of USDA-certified organic crops of vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers. Founded by Anne and Paul Cure in 2005, Cure Organic Farm is dedicated to using sustainable methods to help maintain a healthy farm ecosystem that contributes to a healthy community.

Cure Organic Farm grows hundreds of varieties of USDA-certified organic and seasonal fruits vegetables, herbs and flowers throughout the year. Fruit crops include apples, apricots, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, and strawberries, and flower crops include Agrostemma, Bachelor Buttons, Bells of Ireland, Black Eyed Susans, Cosmos, Snap Dragons, Sweet Peas, Sunflowers, Zinnias, and other varieties of flowers. Herb crops include basil, cilantro, dill, mint, oregano, parsley, tarragon, thyme. Vegetable crops range from broccoli and Brussel sprouts to kale, leeks, snap beans and tomatoes, among others.

Cure Organic Farm also farms a variety of animals with a philosophy of holistic animal management, which includes rotational grazing, pasture raising, and organic feeding. The farm is home to Rambouillet sheep that are raised for meat and wool, heritage Berkshire and Mangalitsa pigs, laying hens and ducks, and several honey bee hives. The farm also purchases grass-fed Homestead Natural Beef and whole chickens organically raised by Eastern Plains Natural Foods Coop.

Cure Organic Farm is committed to engaging and encouraging the surrounding community with a variety of opportunities to learn more about local agriculture and farming and the many ways it plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. The Farm offers a range of educational programs, camps, and classes, including volunteering programs, farm tours, classes, and a unique Kid’s Farm Camp.

Classes include Summer Jams where participants make and take home jars of jam and Mixed Vegetable Pickles and Cucumber Pickles where visitors learn to pickle a variety of vegetables and cucumbers and take them home along with recipes and pickling techniques. Other classes include learning to can peaches and tomatoes and making salsa.

The farm offers special farm tours where visitors can witness agriculture and experience how food is produced from farm to table. The farm tour takes in livestock, vegetable production, watersheds, and health or holistic management.

The Kids' Farm Camp offers opportunities for children between the ages of six and nine to experience the workings of a small, organic farm, the wonders of the natural world, as well as their possibilities and potential. Children on the camp learn all about organic gardening, including how and when to plant seeds, the basics of caring for farm animals, including feeding, composting and collecting eggs, and the satisfaction of producing good food and living a healthy lifestyle. Other Farm Camp activities include making and planting beds, composting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and observing. The children also learn to cook with food grown from the primary farm fields. Activities involving farm animals include feeding the pigs, feeding and watering the ducks and the chickens, collecting chicken eggs, refilling nesting boxes, and observing the honey bee hives. Arts and crafts activities include keeping nature journals, learning to make corn stock dolls, mobiles and collages with objects found on the farm, such as sheep wool, feathers, and honeycomb, and vegetable stamps. Children can enjoy stories, songs and puppet shows in the shade of the fruit trees during the heat of the day. Children also take part in projects such as digging irrigation ditches and seed identification charts, and each week of camp ends with a gathering of campers and staff to share a sumptuous lunch prepared with food gathered by the children.

Cure Organic Farm is located at 7416 Valmont Road in Boulder and is open to the public to visit and enjoy. The farm has a Farm Store that is open Wednesday through Sunday, May through December and sells seasonal certified organic produce, including fruit, flowers, herbs and vegetables. Other food on sale in the store includes fresh eggs, honey from the Farm’s hives and wool from the sheep. Produce and products are harvested every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday for the store.
