The Iwo Jima Monument and Museum preserves the legacy and history of the historic Battle of Iwo Jima. Located on the campus of the Marine Military Academy and open to the general public, this small museum displays artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs from this World War II battle. The main highlight of the Iwo Jima Museum is its Iwo Jima Monument. The monument commemorates the group of marines who climbed Mount Suribachi. Inside the museum, guests can watch a thirty-minute film about the battle and veterans of Iwo Jima are encouraged to sign the museum’s logbook in the Hall of Fame.

The World Birding Center in the town of Harlingen, Texas is just one of its birding sites. In fact, the center is actually a network of nine distinct birding sites located along a historic river road approximately 120 miles in length. Each site of the World Birding Center in the Rio Grande Valley is sponsored by one of the nine partner communities. Visitors will find a variety of things to do at the center, such as state-of-the-art and hands-on exhibits, float trips, wilderness walks, and a variety of birding adventures, from wetlands to scenic bluffs to a historic adobe hacienda.
