The Iris Inn was built in 1991 on a Blue Ridge mountain which overlooks the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. The property of the Inn spans a stunning 12 acres on that mountain ridge for spectacular views and private seclusion. This quaint, yet elegant bed and breakfast is only about a half hour drive from great wineries, if guests are interested in wine tours, plus there are many more attractions located within reasonable distance including hiking and theater. Each of the nine rooms boasts it’s very own view of the mountain terrain and most have access to the inn’s deck area as well. Included with every stay is a full breakfast and wine and cheese every evening. There are six cottages and cabins on the property as well, should guests wish to have more space to themselves.
Iris Inn Guest Accommodations
Along with well-appointed, spacious guest rooms, Iris Inn also offers cottages and cabins located throughout the property as well. Each room features views of the mountainous area and is never cramped or crowded. All rooms come with air conditioning, king size bed, free Wi-Fi, desks in a sitting area, private bathrooms and fridges. For entertainment, guests will enjoy the flat screen televisions and DVD players available in each room.
Within the Main Inn, the guest rooms are spacious and feature many windows to let in as much natural light as possible. Not to worry, however, because there are black out drapes on the windows for those who wish to sleep in. Not only will guests have beautiful views of the Shenandoah Valley but also in the distance, the Appalachian Mountains. Guests can choose from different named rooms which all feature something a little different.
The Wildflower Room features a four poster king size Cherrywood bed and six large, bright windows. This room is located on the second level and allows access to the second level porch area with a swing. The private bathroom boasts a two-person shower complete with body jets for an ultimate relaxing experience. Because there is a lot of space to stretch out, bringing along an extra person and requesting a roll away bed in this room is entirely possible.
Dining at the Iris Inn
Breakfast is included with each stay for all guests. It is served daily from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Great Room, which boasts high, cathedral style ceilings with tonnes of windows overlooking the Valley plus a majestic stone fireplace. It resembles a lodge dining room with its greatness. Guests will be seated at their own private table. Menu items change with the seasons and always include hot breakfast items, which are locally sourced as much as possible. Guests will find egg dishes such as omelets or scrambled eggs plus other delicious items such as the pumpkin pancakes in the fall or fresh strawberries in spring. Iris Inn breakfast will start off each day with a full belly. There is also a 24 hour coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar for guests to help themselves if looking to enjoy a hot cup by the fireplace in the comfortable chairs of the Great Room.
If dining with eight or more guests, the Inn offers picnic lunch options to add to guests’ reservation. Lunch options range from soup to Panini sandwiches to burgers. All served with chips and bottled water. Each lunch comes with fruit and dessert as well. The picnic backpack comes fully equipped with serving items. Guests simply fill in the order form and their sandwiches, wraps or burgers are made with the exact toppings they wish.
Dinner can also be served for parties of eight or more guests staying at Iris Inn. There are two dinner menus to choose from which are both mouth-watering and will surely satisfy even the most picky palate. Entrees are all served with vegetables and dinner rolls. Each dinner option features a dessert. It is recommended to arrange dinner with at least 48 hours notice.
Iris Inn Weddings
With gorgeous sunset views over the Shenandoah Valley, the romantic setting is perfect for any wedding. Couples can choose either indoor or outdoor wedding spaces to celebrate their ceremony. For dinner, the inn can seat up to 44 guests indoors and if couples wish to include the covered porch as a seating area, then up to 65 guests can be accommodated. There are a number of dinner options to choose from wedding receptions, which the staff are happy to discuss and plan out with each couple.
Iris Inn is more than happy to assist in hosting business meetings with the transformation of the Deep Woods Cottage into a meeting space for up to 18 attendees. There is a convenient efficiency kitchen, a large bathroom facility, free Wi-Fi connection and full breakfast served for guests. The staff would be happy to help determine the needs of each company wishing to hold their meeting or conference at the inn.
