Up until April of 2002, North Dakota was the single state in the country without a winery. Fortunately, the Pointe of View Winery opened in 2002, and since then, several other high-quality wineries have opened throughout the state. Many of the wineries of North Dakota focus on American-French hybrid wines and fruit wines.
Bear Creek Winery
The Bear Creek Winery is only twenty-minutes away from downtown Fargo, North Dakota and provides an escape from the city where visitors can relax on a beautiful vineyard. The Tasting Room at the Bear Creek Winery is open on Fridays from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Saturdays from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. Wine tastings include a choice of five different wines, and groups of eight or less are welcome without a reservation. Wine is also available by the glass and bottle to be enjoyed at a table, by the pond, on the outside deck, or in the tasting room.

Dakota Vines Vineyard and Winery
The Dakota Vines Vineyard and Winery is a winery and agritourism business committed to creating high-quality North Dakota wines made from cold climate grapes and other fruit. Established in 2018, the Dakota Vines Winery provides visitors with a chance to about some of the newer grape varietals that are able to not only survive, but also thrive within the cold climate of the state of North Dakota. Wine enthusiasts can find a rural, rustic, and unique wine experience less than thirty minutes from the Fargo-Moorhead area as they sample unique wines and learn about the winemaking process.

Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery
The Fluffy Fields Vineyard and Winery is a family-owned and managed farm winery that produces wines from fruit and grapes grown on-site in the vineyard, gardens, and orchards, in addition to produce grown in the local area. The winery is the first full-service winery in southwest North Dakota open throughout the entire year. Wine tastings are offered daily, as well as wine offered by the glass and as bottles. Visitors can also try draft beers by the jar and have a bite from the small, seasonal menu. Guests can have a glass by the fire or relax on the winery’s outdoor patio.

Prairie Rose Meadery
The Prairie Rose Meadery isn’t your typical winery, as it is the first meadery to open in the city of Fargo, North Dakota and is owned and operated by Bob and Susan Ruud. The meadery, which specializes in honey wine, produces its award-winning Traditional Mead, Metheglin (a spiced mead), and Melomel (a fruit mead) from ingredients sourced primarily from the state of North Dakota. Visitors can try a sample, a glass, or a bottle of the Prairie Rose meads in the tasting room on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tours of the Prairie Rose Meadery are offered by appointment.

Red Trail Vineyards
Red Trail Vineyards is a family-owned and operated vineyard named for the historic Old Red Trail, of the Dakota Territory’s first established trails that guided settlers. This trail stretched from the area of Seattle, Washington all the way to New York, New York, passing along the northern side of the Red Trail Vineyards.Situated on the outskirts of the town of Buffalo along Buffalo Creek, the vineyard boasts fertile soil that the Red River Valley is known for and combines it with the traditional techniques of winemaking to bring out the subtle aromas and flavors of the native hybrid grapes.
