Okemos is an unincorporated community in Meridian Charter Township, Ingham County, Michigan. It is also a suburb of Lansing and a residence community for staff of Michigan State University. The Meridian Historical Village is great place to learn about the history of the area. Harris Nature Center is surrounded by dense forests, lush meadows and more than five miles of nature trails. Meridian Mall is a regional super shopping mall open in 1969. The Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame was established in 1983 to honor the achievements of remarkable Michigan women. Michigan Audubon is the oldest conservation organization in Michigan, formed in 1904. It protects almost 4,000 acres of bird habitats.

Harris Nature Center

Located on the banks of the Red Cedar River near Okemos, Michigan, Harris Nature Center is surrounded by dense forests, lush meadows, more than five miles of nature trails and a .75-mile paved loop trail. Visitors can watch the river from an overlook deck or observe the hawk exhibit and watch a play in the Nature Exploration Area.
