The Inn at Shelburne Farms Accommodations
The 60-room Inn at Shelburne Farms offers 24 exquisitely appointed guest rooms with original furnishings, and comfortable cottages and houses ranging from historic to more contemporary in design and décor.
Beautiful bathrooms, 17 of which are en-suite, offer walk-in showers and/or freestanding soaking tubs and some rooms enjoy additional living and sitting areas, while all rooms boast spectacular views of the manicured perennial gardens, and the ‘Overlook’ is modeled after Lila Webb’s original bedroom, and features family mementos and photographs from her lifetime. ‘Overlook’ boasts magnificent views of some of Lila’s favorite panoramas, such as the lake, meadows, and gardens.
Originally two separate rooms, one of which was Dr. Webb’s dressing room, the White Room boasts spectacular views of the formal perennial gardens, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondack Mountains, while the Webb Room is a beautiful Renaissance Revival-style bedroom suite that originally belonged to Lila's father William Henry Vanderbilt.
The Green Room features stunning oriental-designed wallpaper from the 1920s, which was copied from the original fabric during the restoration of the house. The south windows of the Green Room have wonderful views over the Coach Barn.
The Rose Room boasts beautiful wallpaper that looks like watered silk and original bathroom fixtures and furnishings and can be paired with the West Room for a large family-friendly room, while the Brown Room has a suite of marquetry furniture and splendid views of the formal perennial gardens.
The Colonial Room features Colonial Revival style architecture and furniture and overlooks the north end of the gardens and the wooded pathways of the Enchanted Forest, while the Dutch Room features an elaborate ceiling and tin-glazed earthenware tiles surrounding an ornate fireplace.
The Gray and Violet Rooms can be booked together with private bathrooms and feature whimsical wall paintings and beautiful pasture and meadow views, while the Cherry Room is similar to the Oak, Dutch, and Colonial Rooms, which were once used by bachelor guests with stairways leading down to the Game Room.
The Violet Room adjoins the Gray Room and shares a bath. This lovely room offers two twin beds, oak furniture and violet and white striped wallpaper with bunches of fresh violets. The room boasts lovely views to the East and can be paired with the Gray Room to create a large family-friendly room with a private bath across the hall.
The Red Room features a queen bed and a shared bath and offers unforgettable views of the lawns, lake, gardens and Adirondack Mountains, while the charming Oak Room is furnished with simple oak furniture, and shares a bathroom with the Dutch Room. Serving as a large guest room at the turn-of-the-century, the Yellow Room has a small adjoining room furnished with a twin bed, and a glorious sunken bathroom that was designed so chambermaids would not disturb the room guests.
Well-appointed, stand-alone cottages and houses can be rented for larger groups or extended stays and feature spacious living and dining areas, fully-equipped kitchens, multiple bedrooms, and en-suite bathrooms. In keeping with the commitment to offering a truly tranquil escape, the Inn has no televisions, radios, air-conditioning or heating, however, there is free wireless internet in the main building.
