Big Meadows Campground
The Big Meadows Campground is situated within the Shenandoah National Park in Stanley, Virginia, conveniently located near several of the park’s popular hiking trails and major facilities. There are three waterfalls within walking distance of the campground as well. In addition to the individual campsites at the Big Meadows Campground, group campsites area available as well and are able to be reserved in advance up to one year out, along with bathhouses with toilets and hot showers. The pet-friendly campground is also near The Meadow, which is an expansive open area in the park featuring abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery.

Blowing Springs Campground
Located in Warm Springs, the Blowing Springs Campground amazes visitors with the phenomenon from which it gets its name. The area is home to a unique geological feature that creates an air duct out of rocks, blowing air at a constant of fifty-eight degrees, which may be pleasant for visitors camping during the summer or during chilly fall evenings. The lower part of Blowing Springs is primarily a spacious grassy area offering abundant room for campers to spread out, while the upper portion of the campground features small tent campsites within a wooded setting. There’s also water and vault toilets provided.

Bolar Mountain Recreation Area
The Bolar Mountain Recreation Area offers a great getaway destination for a fun camping trip on the shores of Virginia’s Lake Moomaw. Within the boundaries are a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities, such as camping, volleyball, hiking, fishing, and a playground for children. Campsites here are divided among three loops, with the first loop containing several campsites with hookups for electricity. The campground in the Bolar Mountain Recreation Area also includes shower facilities, flush toilets, drinking water, campfire rings, lantern posts, and picnic tables. Sunbathing, water skiing, canoeing, and boating are popular acitiviteis at the lake.

Cave Mountain Lake Campground
Nestled within the beautiful and scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, the Cave Mountain Lake Campground offers a peaceful and rustic setting for an ideal camping getaway in Virginia. The campground is within close proximity to the Natural Bridge State Park and historic Lexington, and is easily accessible from the interstate. Cave Mountain Lake consists of twenty-eight campsites that can be reserved in advance and thirteen sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each campsite includes a campfire ring and grill, lantern post, and a picnic table, and campground amenities offered include a bathhouse featuring showers with warm water.

Christopher Run Campground, Virginia
Situated next to Lake Anna in Mineral, Virginia, the Christopher Run Campground features more than two hundred campsites, many of which include hookups for electricity and water. Campers can rent paddle boats, rowboats, and canoes during their stay or bring their own and use one of the six on-site boat ramps. The campground is also good for kids and guests who enjoy sports and games, offering a playground, shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball courts, and volleyball courts. Crabtree Falls Campgrounds
The pet-friendly Crabtree Falls Campgrounds is just off of the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway near Tyro, Virginia and Wintergreen Resort. Set along the banks of the Tye River, the campground is just a short walk from its namesake feature of Crabtree Falls, the highest waterfall cascades anywhere east of the Mississippi River. Guests will find several options for camping at Crabtree Falls, including cabins, RV campsites, and tent campsites. Campground amenities include a recreation room, a camp store, a playground, a laundry room, and a heated bathhouse. Guests with dogs may need to bring proof of rabies vaccinations.

Grayson Highlands State Park
The Grayson Highlands State Park Campground provides several basic campsites, offering power at sites, however, no water between March and November. There also aren’t any bathrooms. What the campground may lack in amenities, it makes up for in gorgeous views.
The park serves as a gateway to the highest peak in the state of Virginia, Mount Roger, as well as an entrance to the famed Appalachian Trail. As such, campers can bike, hike, or even ride their horse along the miles of trails. Visitors may also come across a variety of interesting wildlife that roam throughout the area, including wild ponies.

Holiday Trav-L-Park
The Holiday Trav-L-Park in Virginia Beach is the closest campground to the city’s resort area, as well as located within close proximity to several popular nearby attractions. Hurricane Campground
Located in Sugar Grove, the Hurricane Campground is perhaps one of southwest Virginia’s best kept secrets. Set next to a mountain stream, beneath the shade of rhododendron and hemlock, Hurricane Campground provides a tranquil setting for anyone wanting an outdoor adventure, as well as those who are just looking for a place to relax. Loft Mountain Campground
Located in Elkton, Virginia, the Loft Mountain Campground is situated around mile 79 along Skyline Drive and is the Shenandoah National Park’s largest campground. Set on top of Big Flat Mountain, the campground boasts spectacular vistas to the west and to the east. With views of the Virginia Piedmont, the Shenandoah Valley, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, the campground doesn’t disappoint. Trails leading into the park’s Big Run Wilderness area and two waterfalls are also within close proximity to the Loft Mountain Campground. New River Trail State Park
New River Trail State Park offers plenty to do during the day, such as horseback riding, fishing, biking, and hiking, however, numerous outdoor enthusiasts choose to stay overnight in the campground for an even longer outdoor adventure near Max Meadows, Virginia.
All along the trail are primitive sites, but for campsites with a bit more comfort to them, visitors should consider camping in the Millrace and Cliffview campsites, which include picnic tables, lantern posts, and fire pits. Visitors can also rent bikes and canoes. The Baker Island Double Shoals campsites are designed for more rugged camping, focusing on the natural landscape.

North Bay Shore Campground
The North Bay Shore Campground is a family-oriented campground situated along the canals of Virginia Beach that lead into the North Bay. Catering more to families, the campground offers several different amenities and activities that can be enjoyed by campers of all ages. There’s a a seasonal, kid-friendly swimming pool and a playground with play-sets, swings, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, and more. The recreation room offers cable television, ping pong, air hockey, pool, and foosball. Other activities include fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing. North Bend Park & Campground
The North Bend Park & Campground is situated on the grounds of the John H. Kerr Reservoir, Boydton, Virginia. This fifty thousand-acre lake is surrounded by over eight hundred miles of cove-studded, wooded shoreline that campers can spend hours exploring. The campground consists of nearly 250 water/electric hookup sites and primitive campsites near or on the lakefront. There are also centrally located bathhouse facilities with toilets and hot showers. While pets aren’t allowed on the beaches, they are allowed in the campground and on the walking trails. Biking is also permitted on the trails around the North Bend Campground.

North Landing Beach Campground
Another campground in the Virginia Beach area, the North Landing Beach Campground offers waterfront tent camping, RV camping, and camper cabin rentals with amazing views along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Younger campers will particularly enjoy the water balloon launch stations and renovated swimming pool at the campground, as well as Icees from the Full-Service Deli. Peaks of Otter Campground
The Peaks of Otter Campground is situated between two dominating mountain bases within Virginia’s rolling hills near Bedford. Campsites here are shaded by umbrellas of thick trees and include fire rings with grills, lantern poles, and picnic tables. The campground also provides modern amenities, such as a dump station, drinking water, and flush toilets. There’s almost always a campsite available at Peaks of Otter, with more than sixty sites offered with advance reservation and nearly eighty available on a first-come, first-served basis. One of the park’s biggest attractions is the 24-acre, well-stocked Abbott Lake, offering fishing opportunities for bluegill and smallmouth bass.

Pocahontas State Park
Pocahontas State Park is located about twenty minutes from Richmond, Virginia and offers several campsites with hookups for water and electricity, as well as grills and picnic tables at all campsites. Amenities available to campers in the Pocahontas State Park campground include restroom facilities with hot showers, as well as laundry facilities and an outdoor swimming pool. Guests can also rent canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and rowboats, during the warmer months of the year. Shenandoah National Park
Shenandoah National Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, especially those who love backcountry camping, as the park is full of primitive sites. In fact, there are very few park areas that are off-limits for overnight visitors, providing campers with abundant opportunities to truly discover the amazing wildlife and scenery of Virginia.

The scenic and peaceful Walnut Hills Campground & RV Park provides an ideal base camp for visitors to explore the Shenandoah Valley and all of its cultural, historical, and outdoor resources.
